Synopsis of the performance
The play was staged by the young St. Petersburg director Alexander Nasenkov, based on Alexander Tvardovsky's poem "Vasily Terkin," for the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The play's main leitmotif is the righteousness of the battles for the life and freedom of one's homeland, the sanctity of this struggle, the Russian character, the moral strength of the Russian people, and the mystery of the Russian soul. After all, despite the monstrous categories of war, man remains human, with a wounded, but not crippled or brutalized, soul. The psychological trauma inflicted by war is healed, as if by a healing balm, by the inexhaustible humor of the people, optimism, and faith.
In his play, the director professes his love for his homeland and his people, and his creative "thank you," his gratitude to all who were involved in these events, shines through in every scene.
